Jon Normann

Jon Normann began turning wood on a lathe in the 1990s, creating vessels and pots using trees found in Minnesota's lake country. Norman finishes each piece with hand-polished lacquer, some in remain in their natural wood coloring, while others are airbrushed with various dyes, inks, stains or paint. The openings may be finished with an additional piece of exotic wood such as ebony, cocbolo, or bubinga.

In 2005, one of Normann's vessels was displayed in the National Woodturning Gallery.

Born at the US Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD, Normann was raised in Wahpeton, North Dakota. He and his wife now live by Detroit Lake in Minnesota.
